In the afternoon of July 31, 2019, at Dam Bay, Hon Tre Island, Vinh Nguyen Ward, Nha Trang Bay Management Board organized the launch of planting and restoring mangroves with the theme “Planting another tree is one more action.” For the environment”. The activity attracted 70 participants, including youth union members of the Bay Management Board, Vinh Truong Ward delegation and a number of tourism businesses. As a result, 1 ton of mangrove (more than 10,000 seedlings) has been planted on 1 ha of forest land.
Mangroves play an important role in protecting the environment, natural resources, biodiversity and human life. Coastal mangrove ecosystem helps prevent erosion, is a very good shield in times of heavy storms, strong waves; In addition, this is also a place of residence and breeding for many marine species.
Currently, there is only one mangrove forest in Nha Trang Bay with an area of 07 ha, of which there are 04 ha of natural forest and 03 ha of forest managed by the Bay Management Board in cooperation with planting units from 2009 to. 2014, is developing well.
