I. AREA, SCOPE AND BORDER OF MARINE PROTECTION ZONES (KBTB) IN NHA TRANG
Nha Trang Bay has an area of 249.65 km2; in which the sea surface area is 211.85 km2 and the area of islands in the bay is 37.8 km2. The boundaries of Nha Trang Bay range from 12 degrees 8 minutes 33 seconds to 12 degrees 25 minutes 18 seconds North latitude and 109 degrees 7 minutes 16 seconds to 109 degrees 14 minutes 30 seconds East longitude.

– At sea: From Mui Ke Ga to Mui Hin. The boundary was determined by Decision No. 738 / QD-UB of March 21, 2005, of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, on defining the boundary of Nha Trang bay – Khanh Hoa province.

– On the shore: Along the coast of Nha Trang Bay from Mui Ke Ga to Mui Cu Hin to the east of Tran Phu, Pham Van Dong and Nguyen Tat Thanh.

II. MARINE CONSERVATION WORK:
1. Surveying biodiversity in Nha Trang bay
Since 2002, the Management Board (PMU) of Nha Trang Bay has been collaborating with the Institute of Oceanography to survey the current status of biodiversity in Nha Trang Bay every 2 years to assess: the scope of distribution and area. area, habitat coverage and species composition of groups of organisms; Beaches and seed sources of important groups of aquatic resources; Trends in biodiversity fluctuations; Analyzing and assessing impacts from socio-economic activities; Proposing appropriate management solutions to improve the effectiveness of sustainable management and use of biodiversity resources and biological resources (including adjusting the adjustment of functional zoning plans).

The results of the above study provide important documents on the distribution range of ecosystems, current status and trends of biodiversity and biological resources, based on which proposed solutions conservation and appropriate measures to improve management effectiveness in this area.

The total area of ecosystems in Nha Trang Bay by 2015: There are 7 ha of mangroves, of which 4 ha of natural forests and 3 ha of forests are planted in collaboration with Nha Trang Bay Management Board in 2009 – 2012. Seagrass beds recorded 52.4 hectares in Nha Trang Bay in 2015. The total area of coral reef is 754.1 hectares.Map of the distribution of ecosystems in Nha Trang Bay.

2. Planting and restoring coral reefs, mangroves, releasing aquatic resources, protecting turtle breeding grounds in Nha Trang bay sea conservation zone

Collaborate with experts from Hai Duong Institute of Science in transplanting and regenerating dozens of hectares of coral reefs in Hon Mun and Hon Tre islands. The results showed that corals have the ability to recover by artificial transplant methods in Nha Trang Bay.

From 2012-2014, Nha Trang Bay Management Board collaborated with communities and businesses to restore 3 (ha) of mangrove forest in Dam Bay, bringing the total area of mangroves here to 7 (ha).
Release thousands of seahorses, abalone, fish, sea cucumbers and lobsters into the marine environment, capture and destroy millions of sea starfish that destroy corals. Drop 2 turtles about 15 kg into the sea.
The survey found that some mature turtles appeared in Nha Trang Bay in Dam Tre, the Management Board of Nha Trang Bay carried out zoning and strict protection and supervision of this area to create a safe breeding ground for turtles.
